Hey guys (and girls),

I try to play that very nice song on my ukulele but I am not able to understand all of the text.

First I'd like to post a youtube link so you can hear that song:

The second are the lyrics as far as I understand them, the maybe nonsense parts are coloured:

The Nine Road

Through the heart of the British metropolis,
Moving smartly down a thin red line.
London Transport's respectable warrior:
The number Nine.

Picks up the City business men,
tourists from the Serpentine.
French, Arabs, Polish and Finnish men.
On the number Nine...

Hyde Park Corner, then on to Knightsbridge Hotels
for debutants and maiden nuns.
Albert Hall Concerts, Boxing Fights
which include Mohammed and his fancy dance

Down the Strand to the National Gallery,
Bronze Lions on Trafalgar Square
In the Law Courts Visitor’s Gallery
Baroness Tess with funny hair.

Picks up some Fleet Street journalists
Express mendring cal vino’s wine.
Pretty dolly burs they’re probably yearn to kiss
On the number Nine…

Through the heart of the British metropolis,
Moving smartly down a thin red line.
London Transport's respectable warrior:
The number Nine.

Through the heat of British capital
Majestic’s call it fine.
London Transport's stately warrior:
The number Nine … Nine

I'd like to ask all of you if you can tell me the correct lyrics.

Thank you very much

Cheers, Matthias
