Hey All,
Decided that I'm going to post most Aussiex updates on here, the aussiex page will be updated from time to time, however I think it will be better to support the UKDT. Big thanks to Whistlehead for introducing to this forum, loving the format!

Been working away at the project and I have about 80% of roads in the game, 10/11 bus routes have been timetabled already and the main focus on the next month is improving the quality from the beta and developing the buses and scenery.

EDIT (whistlehead):
For those who don't know (doubt there's many) this is a payware addon in development which Rhys here has been working on for some time, and which will include a number of real routes and buses from London :)

EDIT (Road-hog123):
NOTE: As a result of a server crash during 2016, all prior attachments were lost. This included the screenshots at the beginning of this thread. As such, I've removed a little over 20 pages at the beginning of the thread up to the first working images. What's removed wasn't really indicative of the current map progress anyhow.

Had some free time yesterday to spice up one of the buses a little by adding a semi-fictive London interior. This is only an additional spec and doesn't replace the standard London spec interior that also comes with the add-on. Thanks to @BlueOrange for the sofa! I shall be adding USB ports soon. Back to work on the map, I go!

The fictional high spec London interior is more or less complete (needs a bit of tweaking). The interior includes a Navibus unit (similar to the units seen on Routes 360, 507, 521 and RV1 irl), high back Lazzerini Ethos seats, a sofa, and tables. This specification is specifically intended for Route X68, in the add-on, however odd workings will allow for the high spec buses to appear on other routes in the add-on.

I've also implemented a split mirror for every bus apart from the C400. (Mirror angle is still being tweaked)

The New Routemaster is now driving and stopping with its new serial hybrid drivetrain, so now it can go off to @Badger to make it sound less like a bizarre electric SD202 and more like an NRM.

I also managed to reduce the size of the NRM's Livery folder by 50%, which is nice.

Oh, and I figured these four might look quite nice together. :)

Back with another update, so what's been going on?

Aside from celebrating pride month, catching Pokemon in Pokemon Sun and getting on with my day to day life, I've been very busy with the add-on. Between the team and myself, we're managing to cut our to-do lists down vastly. We've all been busy pulling together as we start to finish off our individual parts in prep for filming our trailer.

I've continued to polish areas of Central London. With some of the polishing, it's allowed me to introduce a new technique into buildings, based in shoping districts such as Regent Street/Oxford Street. This technique includes hollowing out shop fronts, and placing a glass mesh. This gives more of an illusion to bringing out the retail atmosphere. You may have seen this technique in my previous Oxford Street screenshots.

Vehicle wise: I've still got a bit of programming to do, such as programming the dash screens on each bus, as well as implementing dirt/rain mappings to the remaining vehicles. But everything is coming together very well!

Map Wise: Still got a few places I need to polish, but some of it will be done after I start private beta testing.

In addition to the above, you may notice that London now has a range of AI cars. @whistlehead has done an absolutely smashing job! Whistlehead has developed his AI cars, so they work efficiently for the user. They have lower detailed models for viewing at a distance, as well as a far more detailed model from when viewing them close.

Road-hog has also been hard at work. Apart from developing an amazing representation of a serial hybrid script for the NRM, Road-hog has also been focusing his attention on completing his iBus and powerblind scripts. The C400 is being used as a test bed for these new scripts, written all from scratch, by Road-hog.

Road-hog has also fitted the C400 with a fancy little animation, on it's rear. The fans from the A/C now rotate!

The Evociti also has a brand new repaint template that makes it a lot more easier to line things up. The below picture is a screenshotted example of the template.

There are a few more things I want to show you all very soon, such as my improved Piccadilly Circus light display, and Big Ben chiming, but for now, do enjoy this update! I appreciate all the support given towards London so far!

Time for an update. :)

For those of you that haven't been seen it mentioned before, in addition to the free standalone Citybus400 Regional and the Citybus400 that comes with your purchase of Addon London, there will be a Citybus400 Regional Dual-Door, or C400RD. This will use components from both C400 and C400R, so you'll need both installed to be able to use it.

You will also notice from this screenshot that the R and RD have received Krüger+ Polychrome displays in the standard 230x32 size. Now you can put pretty colour pictures on the matrix as well as destinations. :)

Heading to the rear, we see a full-sized Krüger+ Polychrome display on the rear of the RD - a repaint variable is provided for enabling a large rear matrix with your repaint on both the R and RD.

On the subject of repaint variables, aircon can also be enabled on the R and RD, with a variable controlling both the rear fans and the box on the ceiling of the upper saloon. Switching between grey and yellow mirrors is also done this way.

It also looks like I haven't shown off the new rear doors yet, so here they are:
C400_2.png

Work has also been done on the textures, in particular to remove references to variant-specific textures on generic components. The mirrors, mirror arms, doors, door buttons, rear aircon unit and black-backed glass all used the exterior texture, which would necessitate having 3 copies of those meshes because the different variants use different exterior textures. These components have therefore gained their own textures or been moved to the empty space on the texture for the underside. Grey.bmp was also put on the underside texture, which is why the hopper windows are missing and the cab window grabs are white (both need re-exporting to use the new texture).

Next up in things I changed ages ago but never put into an update post, the dashboard screen!
C400_3.png
Icons from left to right:
  • Next Stop Request - Indicates that the request button for the next stop has been pushed
  • Low External Temperature - Indicates that the outside temperature is 3°C or below and there is a possibility of frost
  • Engine Idle Timeout Active - Indicates the engine is about to automatically shut down after idling for an excessive period
  • Low Fuel - Indicates that the fuel level is below 10%, or below 5% if the icon is flashing
When the stop request button is first pressed, and if it is pressed a second time, the dashboard indicator "flashes":
C400_4.png
In addition to the icons, a 24-hour clock in the bottom left corner will help you to stay on-time, and a thermometer in the bottom right will help you keep the passengers at just the right temperature. Of course what use is a thermometer without temperature controls - the dashboard buttons for the demister are repurposed to control the heating and fans (or aircon, where fitted).
C400_5.png

Some additional notes:
The C400's dashboard screen is not a recreation of any particular real Enviro400, but rather a fictional screen that borrows features from multiple different dashboard screens. If the C400 rebuild happens, then it'll get a brand new dashboard that's actually correct, including correct screen.
As indicated by the presence of an icon on the dashboard, all variants of the C400 are fitted with automatic engine cut-out after idling for an excessive period. The icon on the dashboard appears 15 seconds before shut down.
