[OMSI 2] BotW 1 (Legacy Edition)

    This is a final polish-up of the original BotW map. It is a project which runs alongside the development of BotW 2. The reason for this, is basically because the structure of the map has been drastically (and in most cases unrecognisably) changed - I've decided to bring the original up to scratch as I imagine many people will still be driving it.


    What this project will feature:

    • Aggressive optimization - drastic polygon count reduction, more efficient texture use and so on.


    • A manually timed timetable.


    • Major junctions will be converted to invisible junctions (i.e. phasing out ampelspline style spline-based junctions).


    • Deployment of an up-to-date 'iomexLH' spline pack.


    • Bundled desties and liveries for most RHD buses


    • Introduction of new assets by BTV, Whistlehead and Fellowslothb


    • Dependency streamlining


    • Much more thorough testing








    BONUS FEATURE: One thing I have decided to rebuild is the depot. It will be a treat for users of this map only (it won't be carried in to BotW 2). Here are some screenshots of the depot I knocked up this afternoon. I emphasize this is the only area which I have rebuilt. The map will be polished as it is.

    I am unsure as to the exact details of this. Is this BoTW 1 with small updates like a patch or is this what was released to BETA testers with a few small tweaks?

    The preview copy of BotW I sent out a few months ago was BotW 2. This project is BotW 1. I'm basically giving extended support to the original map.

    Don't forget extensive UKDT-standard quality testing :) We may not have caught everything on Cotterell but we certainly put paid to a hell of a lot of the bugs.

    Loving the Network South East style banner, although that logo seems more like the French flag rather than the NSE logo :eek:  Looking good however, keep up the good work ;)

    Another issue with BotW 1 - can you put a no collision mesh on the railway bridge in between Berry Pomeroy and Stoke Road? It's the only invisible wall I've found on the map.

    That's easy enough - copy the sceneryobject to a new folder and add a [nocollision] tag. If you're repainting it then there's zero extra fuss involved, and that's a really good bug to fix.


    Never did like how that bridge looked, a retexture would be a good thing for it.

    This is the bus garage, where the polygons have been streamlined (no other optimization done yet, textures, etc):

    Even the double yellow lines have been chopped up to save polys. There's a few more polys I think I can save, but I've already cut out thousands so far.

    Optimizing and updating this area. On my lunch break I redid the train station with BTV's assets and made it closer to how it is IRL

    I got quite a bit of work done today. I refurbished the bus station and train station area. Firstly, I did the road infront of the train station, and the station itself:

    I haven't done the background scenery, yet, mind.


    Later on I cleared away the junction further on (that sort of roundabout thing, because of how many polygons it employed (17,636). Here is a before-and-after shot of this junction:

    The road layout is the same, but I've changed it to be a signal controlled junction to make it feel more like a town centre.


    Towards the end of the stream I improved the bus station, and put a car park in the space where houses used to be:

    It's not finished, there's still a few bits to do to the car park and bus station, but I ran out of time. I'm hoping to get this area complete before I start streaming again tomorrow.
