A year is highly, highly optimistic for what we have in mind. The most likely case scenario is that the map will be released in phases as it is completed, starting out with either the brand new Paignton-Totnes corridor or refreshed Cotterell.

We have a few plans for what we will and won't be including. We're also intending to refresh Cotterell, turning it into Bath. We currently have no plans to make Bristol, as every major town added to the map adds a huge amount of extra work for it to be worthwhile, and we'd rather have a few nicely detailed towns with interesting routes than a huge number of towns which are basically a bus station and a major road.

Just to let you know, I don't think they have any plans to go to Weymouth, especially as they are focussing on Devon & Cornwall, and Weymouth is in Dorset :tongueout:

I'm glad Road-hog dug that out as I couldn't be bothered to go search for it :tongueout:

As you can see, Plymouth would be the one city we model in the network, with several smaller towns/cities modeled - Paignton, Bath, Bodmin, etc. Larger cities that won't be fully modeled include Bristol and Exeter (we're only visiting Bristol airport and Exeter services). Of course, plans are subject to change depending on circumstances.

As Whistlehead stipulated, the network won't be completed as a whole, bits will get added as we go along. We're not really sure how big these sections will be - this would depend on things such as what the mappers are doing IRL, how many mappers will be available, availability of reference material, and so on.

Naturally, we wouldn't model every single bus route in Plymouth, and I'm largely undecided as to whether we model Bretonside Bus Station or use the new one (I'm leaning toward Bretonside). Not knowing the bus routes in the area well, I imagine we'd want a line that goes up to Derriford Hospital, a council estate route going round St. Budeaux and a local city line in addition to lines from other towns in the map.

However, I must emphasize that the Paignton-Totnes corridor, Bath, and the link connecting them will come first, and that they will take a long time themselves. Remember, it took us 6 months to put Cotterell together, and that's a 15 minute map.

Yeah Quantity <-------> Quality is something we lean to the right on. Bowdenham is a very large UK-themed map, for instance, so we don't really need another huge map like that. What we want is something high quality, which I hope is something me and Rhys are offering.

The idea is that with good quality UK-themed maps, we can generate more interest in the UK OMSI community, and thus be able to tap into a bigger talent pool to accelerate development.
