Maps [Cancelled] The Testing Ground (1 Viewer)

Bannner.PNG

Hello all, and welcome to the worst map this year!

This map is called "The Testing Ground" and is exactly what it says on the tin!

It will feature several tests to challenge a bus and drivers ability on things like handling, hill climbs, speed, brakes etc.

This can make entertaining YouTube videos and help developers obtain critical information about their bus and what needs improving.

FEATURES:
- The Countryside Drive: This challenges the ability to take consecutively challenging corners and turns while enjoying a very peaceful woodland scenery.

-The Drag Strip: A fun feature really - put your foot down and thrash the 'ell out of that bus!

-Car Dodging: Try and swerve inbetween obnoxious cars who have parked badly.

-Reverse Parking: Try and reverse park your bus in the tightest spaces possible!

-and more? Make suggestions for features and it COULD get implemented!

STATUS: TO BE FINISHED OFF BY SOMEONE ELSE
Map: 35%
Scenery: 29%
Features: 29%
Repaints: 92% (these will be made by me)
Optimisation:
35%
Beta Testing: 0% (do not ask for this, they will be hand picked by myself)

KNOWN ISSUES:
The FPS generally is smooth, but in some places the game completely freezes up (this may be an AI issue) Fixed - this was an issue with the AIList. A fresh one has been placed
The scenery is kinda boring/repetitive - I know, I used a variation of trees and some roadside clutter but please tell me how I can make it more interesting
I am terrible at the editor - but I hope in the development of this map I will get better!

SCREENSHOTS
These are screen from The Countryside Drive, which I've been recently working on.

Yeah, well the only AI is other buses, and it is a closed track. The barriers are placed either end of the circuit! ;)
To get a proper countryside feel, add some little bushes and shrubs around the road edge and some larger shrubs a little further back. Little buildings and shacks every so often wouldn't go amiss either. Something like this is actually quite handy so I'd love to see this shown through. Any help, people are here to, so if you don't understand just ask :P

Yeah just get some of iomex's flora trees and sink them 2-6 metres below the ground depending on the original height. You can probably see thag technique kicking around in BotW and Cotterell

@Kieron Which ones from the Flora pack should I use?
Its up to you really, flowers should probably come form the 'roadside' folder and the trees are generally in the 'Trees MC' folder. Its really your preference. I never use the willow trees unless there is a river bank because I personally don't like them but it depends what fit in. The Trees MC folder in Iomex's pack are lower poly than the originals so if you have any originals, replace them :)

Yeah this is full of the originals, it does run smoothly but there are massive lag spikes at times and i think that was the cause. Will be replacing them

2-6 metres below the ground? I will take a look at that, interesting method.
BTW, whenever I try placing your garden objects, the Editor crashes.
I have an activity suggested.

Car Dodging

Cars parked along a small road, try and swerve between them.
I like that idea. That will be implemented.

UPDATE
Today there is an update of whats been going on.

The whole Countryside Area has been revamped, all the trees have been replaced with the Iomex Flora ones, along with some flowers.

I also have several issues:
1. My streetlights aren't loading
2. I get random, frequent, huge game freezes and its really annoying.

If you can help please give me a PM.

And now for some screenshots, please remember this is nowhere near the finished quality.

Looking really good Luke!
The game freeze is down to tiles loading I think and the streetlights they will only load when you select higher scenery detail level in the omsi settings

Thank you. I think i should raise the settings as many people have told but it seems tile loading is inevitable as this is based off 4 tiles, but there is a way to get these all loaded at once if I'm correct.

Anyway, if you think it looks good now, wait until I've implemented the suggestions I've received on Discord yesterday - will spice up the map a lot!
